Wide area coverage: It sprawls on more than 2 hectares (4.9 acres), and is enclosed by a 12 km (7.5 mi) long artificial lake created by the Garudeshwar weir downstream on the Narmada river.

Construction, Design and Execution:

In 2010, the announcement was made about establishing the Statue of Unity. Indian company Larsen & Toubro laid the construction with a total construction cost of ₹27 billion (US $422 million) and the design was devised by Indian sculptor Ram V. Sutar. In 2013, the Statue of Unity Movement began in which Iron needs were met by asking farmers to donate their used farming machinery. Thus, a total of 135 metric tonnes of scrap iron was accumulated by 2016. On 31 October 2018, PM Narendra Modi inaugurated it on the 143rd birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
